A decree of the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR on the establishment of the museum was adopted in 1972. Since 1981, the museum was listed among cultural establishment of Kirovakan (Vanadzor). The opening took place on 15 September 1990 , on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the writer who lived in the house in summers and falls of 1964 - 1967. The former summer house (with one more floor added) was designed by the sons of the writer, architects Levon and Karen Zoryan. The patio of the house has the bust of the writer (sculptor Marat Minasyan) and a beautiful apple garden.The museum collection contains about 1,400 items related to the life and the work of the writer. The ground floor hall has a panorama of the writer's birthplace - the old Vanadzor (former Kharakilisa) and items related to the childhood and adolescence periods of his life. The study of the writer is also on this floor. The halls of the second floor contain materials related to the writer's literary work in Tiflis , Yerevan , Vanadzor, as well as publications and translations of his books, photographs and documents.
