" Vanadzor Chorus"

 

29.03.1992 Vanadzor Chamber Choir was founded under the initiative of Vanadzor City Council's Culture Department on the base of the public choir “Gtutyun” by the Cultural Centre of city Kirovakan (later Vanadzor)/ the founder, the permanent conductor, art director and the art director Ruzanna Mkhitaryan.

1994 The choir was renamed into a separate formation “Junior institution” that didn't response to the choir specifics.

28.04. 1993 An annual account concert was given.

10.10.1993 Vanadzor Chamber Choir participated in national choir competition and was awarded with the first prize.

09.10.1994 UNESCO together with International Choral Society organized a festival in defence of nature and environment protection. More than 150 world choirs participated in the festival. Vanadzor Chamber Choir as well had its contribution and gave a concert in Vanadzor Music Aacademy.

1996-97 The Choir participated in festivities in Gougark Diocese, in Odzun, Ahkpat, Spitak, Stepanavan, Ijevan, Gyumri, Alaverdi, etc.

1997 The fifth anniversary was celebrated with a new program.

23.03.1999 For the first time in the interpretation and performance of the art director and conductor Ruzanna Mkhitarian, one of the masterpieces of the Armenian opera, “Anush” in literary-music composition was performed. The unprecendented premiere was timed to 130th anniversary of Armenian brightest poet Hovhannes Toumanyan and the 120th anniversary of the gifted composer Tigranyan. It gave rise to choral culture awakening, as well as to the national self-realization in Vanadzor and then in other regions and cities of Armenia . The staging of the opera was greeted with ardour and was played 7 times in Vanadzor, and then in Gyumri, Yerevan , Dilijan, Ijevan, Dsegh, etc.
The conductor, Ruzanna Mkhitaryan was awarded with the prize of the best artist of the year and was honored to a Silver Laurel Wreath by Lori Philharmonic Society for the interpretation and the staging of the opera.

1999-2000 The Choir performed the liatrary-musical composition “The Incessant Steeple” dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the Genius Komitas and the 75th anniversary of Paruyr Sevak.

2000 a creative concert during which new interpretations by R.M. were performed for a mixed four-voice choir.

18.07.2001 The Choir participaetd in Armenian Choral Organizaiton festivity dedicated to 1700th anniversary of Christianity adoption in Armenia . The chorus was awarded with another Honour medal.

22.07.2001 Alongside with the Choir of the Gougark Diocese it performed a festive liturgyby Makar Yekmalyan, ‘Vardavar' in the Cathedral Church in Echmiadzin. The choir was honoured with the blessing and praise of the Armenian Overall Catholicos, Garegin B.

06.04.2003 For the first time Vanadzor Chamber Choir performed a number of songs from the repertoir of the Brightest Charles Aznavour, in a four voice musical composition.
08.07.2003 The choir gave a performance devoted to yhe 45th anniversary of Armenian Choral Organization. The program involved the literary-musical performance of the songs by Charles Aznavour. The listener and the specialists honoured the choir with highest appraisal and listened woth ardour.

The choir staff consists of 33 members. A mixed four-voice coir.
